Enabling equal access to treatment for the children with cancer from vulnerable families

Ongoing
"Provision of Care for Children with Cancer" – Phase 4

Summary

This ongoing multi-phase project enables children with cancer from low-income and vulnerable families to access high-quality treatment and care in Armenia. It co-finances medicines, medical interventions and psychological support that aren’t fully covered by public healthcare funding. The initiative began in 2022 and has expanded through five consecutive phases.

Since 2022 13 children from vulnerable families have received appropriate treatment.

Why this matters

Children with cancer need uninterrupted access to treatment, medicines, and supportive services. For families with limited financial means, delays in care can create serious health risks and additional emotional strain. This project is designed to reduce those barriers and help children receive appropriate care on time.

Project objective

The project aims to help children with cancer from low socioeconomic backgrounds receive the best available treatment and care in Armenia. In this phase, the project will support four children through timely access to essential medicines, treatment, and psychosocial services.

What the project will do

The project will finance essential medicines and supportive care, help cover required treatment and interventions, and provide psychological support for children and their families. By combining medical and psychosocial support, the project seeks to improve continuity of care and strengthen family wellbeing during treatment.

Expected results

Four children with cancer receive timely support for treatment and care. Beneficiaries gain improved access to essential medicines and required interventions. Children and their families also receive psychological support to help them cope with the stress of diagnosis and treatment.
